Meet the Team: Maeve

maeve

We hire such amazing people that we want to share a little bit about them. Maeve is part of our Client Delivery team and has been with Relay for about 7 months. We pulled her away with watching Pets in Wigs to ask her a few questions.

Tell me about your career path and how you got to Relay.
I worked for an executive recruiting firm right out of college for almost a year. I basically just stalked people on LinkedIn and then called them and asked if they wanted a new job. And most of the time they hung up on me. Then I went to work for Hay Group, they’re an HR consulting firm. I did a combination of project management and client management. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, I kind of fell into both of those jobs. But I found that I really liked project management and client management. I learned a lot. It was a very fast paced and chaotic place to work which I found that I really thrived in. I was there for almost 4 years and felt like it was time to make a move. So I found Relay and stalked Kasey until she called me back to interview for this job! And I got it!

How do you spend your free time outside of Relay?
I’m getting my MBA. So most of free time is spent in class two or three nights a week or doing school work. So I have a very robust social life… I’m doing the Philly half marathon in November. I travel a lot, I feel like every weekend I’m going somewhere. And I watch a lot of Netflix.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Relay?
This is probably a cliche answer but the people. That’s what’s been most important to me in all the jobs I’ve had so far. The people here are really smart, really fun to work with. We’re all working towards something similar and everyone has the same goals in mind. Everyone is really helpful. I love the team! Both my team and people outside my team! Everyone probably says it, but wanting to come to work, seeing people that you like working with is something that not everybody has.

What’s your favorite song right now?
I’ve really been listening to that Mumford and Sons’ song on repeat and I don’t know what it’s called… I don’t know what it’s called! It’s the new one!

What’s the best book you’ve read or movie you’ve watched recently?
I just reread one of my favorite books for like the tenth time, It’s called Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. It’s so good. IT’S SO GOOD. I probably read it like 10 years ago. My dad loves Neil Gaiman and I’ve read it so many times. It is SO good.

What’s something your coworkers might not know about you?
I used to be in the orchestra! I played the viola through senior year of high school and I loved it. And in 10th or 11th grade my school orchestra played at Carnegie Hall. I was an Orchestra nerd!

What’s your go-to place to eat nearby?
Oh, Snap. Duh.

Would you rather fight 1 horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?
I think… I think I would rather… fight one horse-sized duck. Not a bunch of little ones… You can keep your eye on the big one!

What would the name of your debut album be?
lolgal247

What’s your favorite thing to do in Philly?
Eat.

What’s your favorite word?
Oh my gosh… Hmm… Well I have a lot of words I hate…

What’s your least favorite?
It might be moist… Ugghhh…

If you could only keep five possessions what would they be?
Do my cats count?

What was the best trip you’ve taken recently?
I went to Pittsburgh for my sister’s wedding and it was amazing! My speech was awesome. I have a huge family so basically everyone that was there was part of our family. And we don’t get to all be together in one place all that often so it was really nice. And obviously it was good to celebrate my sister and let her have the attention for once.
